Beth Phoenix Returns To Raw To Rescue Edge From Judgment Day

Raw's main event was a big one this week for a number of reasons. The biggest was that Edge competed on Raw in Toronto for the first time in over a decade. The match was also a big deal because it felt like it rescued what was quickly becoming a faltering storyline. Edge and Damian Priest more than delivered to close the show, and then fans got an added bonus.

Beth Phoenix Is Back

The Rated R Superstar picked up the win, and, of course, that led to the rest of The Judgment Day rushing the ring and putting the boots to their former leader. Edge was severely outnumbered, and even if he did managed to put up a fight, seeing off Rhea Ripley would have been a big no-no since intergender wrestling is off the cards in WWE right now. Well, unless you're Ripley beating up Dominik Mysterio.

Someone was waiting in the wings to not only even up the numbers, but also to solve the intergender problem too. Edge's other half, Beth Phoenix. The Glamazon appeared at ringside with a steel chair and made sure Raw went off the air with her and her husband standing tall, even though she didn't get the chance to use the hardware she brought with her.

Mixed Tag Match Imminent?

Phoenix's appearance was her first in WWE since January, another occasion on which she stood shoulder to shoulder with Edge. The pair teamed up in a match for the first time and beat The Miz and Maryse at Royal Rumble. It seemed as if the two might work together at WrestleMania, or Phoenix might hang around for a few more matches, but that didn't happen.

The end of Monday's Raw suggests we haven't seen the last of Edge and Phoenix teaming together after all. The way the angle was shot hinted we could well see the two face off against Ripley and Finn Balor some time soon. Perhaps at Clash at the Castle. No one mentioned above has been booked on the show yet and there's only 11 days to go until the big day.
