Hulk Infinity Gauntlet snap in Avengers: Endgame resurrected Liv Tyler's Betty Ross, a character who hasn't been around since The Incredible Hulk.

Avengers Endgame Hulk Snap Betty Ross

Hulk's snap of the Infinity Gauntlet in Avengers: Endgame has an interesting connection to Liv Tyler's Betty Ross, a character who hasn't been seen since her first and only MCU appearance in 2008's The Incredible Hulk. In Marvel Comics, Betty Ross is the daughter of General Thunderbolt Ross and the primary love interest of Bruce Banner. Betty's relationship with Banner is complicated by her father's intense hatred for Banner's alter ego, the Hulk.

In The Incredible Hulk, Betty Ross is a cellular biologist and the ex-girlfriend of Bruce Banner (Edward Norton). The two became separated after Banner's transformation into the Hulk. Five years later, Betty is drawn back into Banner's life. Banner and Betty end up going on the run from General Ross, which puts Betty in a situation where she has to calm down the Hulk during one of his rampages. Betty also helps Banner in his attempt to get cured, but of course this doesn't go as planned. In the end, Banner has to go his own way, forcing the pair to be apart once again.

The fact that The Incredible Hulk is Hulk's last solo movie is likely the reason why Betty has never returned to the MCU. For this reason, not much is known about what's happened in Betty's life since 2008. But, she was mentioned by Avengers: Infinity War directors Anthony and Joe Russo. The Russos have confirmed that Betty Ross was one of the many unseen victims of Thanos' snap. When Thanos used the power of the Infinity Gauntlet, the MCU characters that were killed off by the snap weren't limited to the ones shown on screen. Multiple existing characters -- Betty Ross included -- were eliminated as well.

Liv Tyler as Betty Ross from The Incredible Hulk

In Avengers: Endgame, Smart Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) uses Tony's makeshift Infinity Gauntlet to bring back the people killed by Thanos in Infinity War. Betty Ross was among those resurrected by Hulk's snap. What's interesting about this is who saved Betty. The person who restored her to life is coincidentally the same man she loves in The Incredible Hulk and in Marvel Comics. The deep connection shared between Bruce Banner and Betty Ross across the movies and the comics gives the snap a rather touching and unforeseen outcome.

Since the public may not know about Smart Hulk's role in the reversal of the snap, it's quite possible that Betty, wherever she is in the MCU, has no idea that it was her former boyfriend who brought everyone back. How Betty was affected by the snap, what her character is up to, and if she has any contact with Banner are questions that have yet to be answered in the MCU, but that could change soon if the rumors are true about Liv Tyler returning as Betty Ross for She-Hulk.
