Big Brother 25 houseguest and self-described superfan America Lopez had a strong start to the season when she won the very first competition that came from the Scramble-verse. The houseguests had to disassemble a completed puzzle and fit the pieces perfectly in the box they came in. She proved from the first competition that she's a strong physical and mental competitor. America was calm and logical, and solved the puzzle far ahead of her fellow competitors.
America's most impressive Big Brother 25 achievement so far was placing second in the grueling Pressure Cooker Head of Household (HOH) competition. She and winner Cameron Hardin held their Pressure Cooker buttons for an incredible 13 hours and 49 minutes. American once again proved that she has what it takes to win. Here's what to know about her.
America Lopez’s Age
America is 27 years old, which places her toward the middle of the group of Big Brother 25 houseguests when it comes to age. This season, nine out of the 17 contestants are 30 or older. The oldest is 63-year-old Felicia Cannon, while the youngest is Cory Wurtenberger at 21 years old.
America Lopez’s Hometown & Family
America is originally from Edinburg, Texas, but she currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. In her Big Brother 25 premiere night package, she shared that her parents are Mexican immigrants, which makes her a first-generation American. When she was growing up, her parents didn't know any English, and Spanish was her first language. She learned English from listening to Shania Twain's cassette tapes until she was able to enunciate the words correctly. She learned whole albums from memory.
America shared that her family didn't have a lot when she was growing up. There were eight people in her family sharing one bathroom. America saw her parents' financial struggles, and really wanted to make them proud. Therefore, she immersed herself in her education.
America Lopez’s Job
America currently works as a receptionist in a dermatologist's office. She graduated from Brown University in 2019 with a degree in biology. Brown University is a very prestigious Ivy League school located in Providence, Rhode Island.
America Is A Big Brother Superfan
America thought that, at first glance, people would underestimate her and think that she's just "a pretty face with lashes and big hair," but she's actually a huge Big Brother superfan. She's been watching the show since she was ten years old. America explained that, as a first-generation American, she had to learn at a very young age to be resilient. She said that Big Brother is "a cutthroat game," in which players have to be ruthless going into the house, and that's how she's going to win.
As a superfan, America will know what to expect from Big Brother competitions, so she has a great chance of winning. In fact, when host Julie Chen Moonves announced the Pressure Cooker competition, America's fellow houseguests immediately asked her what it was. It's refreshing to see a houseguest who not only knows the history of the game, but is a strong competitor, especially in a such a milestone season. America is definitely one to watch during Big Brother 25.
