Full Gear was a much-needed event for AEW for a number of reasons. The first PPV since All Out, it was the promotion's best chance yet to demonstrate to the world that the situation revolving around CM Punk and The Elite is as firmly in the rearview mirror as it can be. As for the decisions made by the company so far, fans appear to approve.

Fan Opinion On CM Punk

Full Gear kicked off with The Elite's return match. A showdown with Death Triangle in which Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks attempted to win back the titles they never technically lost. While they didn't manage to pull that off, the reaction they got from the crowd probably made their night. Midway through, many in attendance chanted “fuck CM Punk” for a significant amount of time.

If there was any doubt beforehand as to what side of the argument most AEW fans fall on, that chant appeared to confirm most side with The Elite and aren't too bothered about Punk being gone. As for how Colt Cabana felt about hearing that reaction, he didn't tweet about it overtly, but what he did say during the match appeared to be a reaction to it.

Cabana Was Chanting For The Elite

“I was chanting for the Elite!” Cabana tweeted during Full Gear. Perhaps a way of letting AEW fans know he could hear what they were chanting, and a subtle way to remind people who he sides with in this whole situation. Not that anyone would have needed a reminder considering a chunk of what Punk had to say after All Out was aimed directly at his broken friendship with Cabana.

The odds of Punk finding a way back to AEW diminish with each passing day. A new trailer for Fight Forever debuted at Full Gear, ending on what appears to be a redesigned front cover for the game. If that is the new cover art, then Punk, who was front and center on the original, is now nowhere to be seen and has been replaced with Omega.
