  • The landscape of AEW and its championships has changed a lot over the last month or so, with several belts changing hands on multiple occasions, such as the AEW Women's World Championship and the AEW International Championships. Presently, only one champion has a reign of over 100 days, which shows the amount that the titles have changed hands in recent months. Champions defend their gold quite commonly in AEW, which has led to a larger number of changes that perhaps AEW fans have been used to over the last four years.

Although AEW incorporates a lot of different titles on their programming, previously featuring ROH, AAA, NWA, NJPW, and IMPACT championships, the company already has a fair number of titles of their own.

Although it isn’t an “official” AEW Championship, the FTW Championship has been used and defended enough for it to be included here. Hook is a two-time FTW Champion, dethroning Jack Perry on the All In Zero Hour show to win back his father’s belt.

His most recent reign hasn’t had many talking points yet, not defending the gold over the last two month and instead entering the tag team scene alongside Orange Cassidy for a little bit.

Vs. Dark Order (AEW Rampage: Grand Slam 2023)

After multiple failed attempts, The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn finally became the AEW World Trios Champions at All In 2023 when they defeated The House of Black. The most notable part of their run so far has been their custom-designed pink scissor title belts.

They have been busy in their reign, defending their belts multiple times in just the first month, fending off the likes of The Dark Order, Hardy Party, and more. It has been a fun run thus far, but they haven’t had a defining feud yet as champions.

After suffering a setback at the WrestleDream PPV, Julia Hart bounced back at the Full Gear 2023 event to outlast both Kris Statlander and Skye Blue to become the new TBS Champion.

She managed to steal the victory, throwing Statlander out the way and taking advantage by pinning Blue, but either way it was a popular result. Hart's gimmick has been getting over with fans, and she has been rewarded by becoming the new TBS Champion for the first time.

Christian Cage may have been holding the TNT Championship for several months, but he only won it months later, picking up the belt in a triple threat match also involving Luchasaurus and Darby Allin.

Due to Luchasaurus’ alliance with Cage, the latter was the self-proclaimed champion. He has been by far one of the most entertaining characters on AEW TV, so it was about time he became the rightful TNT Champion. He's had some high-profile defenses against Darby Allin and Bryan Danielson but isn't the most frequent defending champion. Either way though, he has raised the stock of the belt.

International Champion: Orange Cassidy

Orange Cassidy is now a two-time AEW International Champion. He initially lost the belt to Jon Moxley, but due to a concussion, the title was thrown on Rey Fenix. To get AEW's storyline and feud between Cassidy and Moxley back on track, Cassidy picked up the title once again from Fenix.

His reign hasn't had the same spark as his first one as of yet, but he did defend the gold in a strong match against Jon Moxley at the Full Gear PPV.

Four Way Ladder (AEW Full Gear 2023)

Despite only being a fairly new alliance, Ricky Starks and Big Bill shocked AEW fans by squashing FTR and winning the AEW World Tag Team Championships in a complete upset. Their team has been entertaining though, and they've proven to be worthy champions.

They may have only defended the gold twice, but it has come in two very good matches - once against the Blackpool Combat Club, and then once again in a brutal four-way ladder match involving three teams who put their bodies on the line to try and steal the show.

AEW Women’s World Champion: Toni Storm

The "Timeless" Toni Storm gimmick has been a major hit with fans, so it is little surprise that she found herself back in the AEW Women's Championship picture, feuding with Hikaru Shida.

After targeting the champion, Storm won the gold at Full Gear 2023, celebrating with her butler "Lutha" and super fan Mariah May. Storm's reign has only just begun, but her character direction promises a fun time as champ.

Vs. Bryan Danielson (AEW Revolution 2023)

MJF is the current longest reigning champion in AEW, winning the World Title over a year ago at the 2022 Full Gear event when William Regal helped him defeat Jon Moxley. Nothing came of that moment, but MJF has gone on to have a fantastic reign.

There have been ups and downs, but his matches have always delivered. His Iron Man match against Bryan Danielson was an all-timer, and he had other solid defenses against Ricky Starks, the Four Pillars, Samoa Joe, and Adam Cole. His reign has been defined with his rivalry turned friendship with Cole, in which MJF naturally turned babyface in AEW’s best storyline of the year. His title defense at Full Gear 2023 vs Jay White however has received harsh criticism from fans for being overbooked and making the hot heel "Switchblade" look like a joke.
