Jinder Mahal has had a tumultuous journey in WWE thus far, from being at the bottom to reaching the top of the ladder. Signing for WWE in 2010, he was a mid-card Superstar, but his position soon deteriorated after joining the faction 3MB who were basically similar to enhancement talents.

But after returning to WWE for the second time, his career path changed significantly, as he started getting a main event push and became the WWE Champion in 2017. With an impressive physique and character work as a heel, The Modern Day Maharaja excelled well to be one of the best bad guys today. However, many booking decisions in the first and seconds stints of his career hardly made any sense.
9 Jinder Mahal Joined 3MB
Jinder Mahal's lowest point in his WWE career was probably in 2012 when he joined 3MB. Besides Jinder, Drew McIntyre, and Heath Slater were part of the stable.
Before joining 3MB, he had a decent run in the mid-card. But his career went right downhill after joining the stable, who were infamous for losing continuously to other wrestlers or stables every single week.
8 Lost The WWE Championship Just Before the 2017 Survivor Series
Jinder Mahal enjoyed a stupendous run in his sole WWE Championship reign back in 2017. With the help of The Singh Brothers, he became one of the best heels of the company, and he regularly managed to create nuclear heat.
Jinder Mahal's WWE Championship reign lasted 170 days, but he had an unexpected end to the title reign that hardly made sense. Mahal already challenged then Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. But just two weeks before the pay-per-view, he dropped the title to AJ Styles. As a result, Styles faced Lesnar at Survivor Series instead of Mahal.
7 Won The 24/7 Championship As A Former WWE Champion
It might be hard to comprehend that a former WWE Champion would win the 24/7 Championship, which is primarily a lower-mid card title. Generally, the 24/7 Championship is contended between lower-mid card Superstars or jobbers of the roster.

But Jinder Mahal, a former WWE Champion, won the 24/7 Championship back in 2019 by pinning R-Truth twice at a golf course as well as an airport. He became a two-time 24/7 Champion.
6 The 8 Days US Title Reign
Not just the 24/7 Title, Jinder Mahal also won the United States Championship after becoming a WWE Champion. After losing the WWE Championship, he entered the US Title picture right away, and he won the belt at WrestleMania 34 in a Fatal 4 Way Match.
However, unlike his lengthy WWE Title run, his only US Title reign lasted 8 days. He lost the United States Championship to Jeff Hardy and failed to recapture it in a rematch.
5 Gained Momentum After Returning To NXT But Turned Into A Jobber Afterward
Jinder Mahal started off in WWE with the developmental brand known as FCW. But he returned to developmental when it was renamed NXT. After a lackluster main roster stint, Mahal was sent to NXT, and he had a solid run there.
Mahal not only had a short winning streak, but he also reached the finals of the Gold Rush tournament that determined the first-ever NXT Champion. Despite gaining such incredible momentum from the black-and-gold brand, Mahal turned into a jobber on the main roster after carrying the impressive run from NXT, making his NXT return void.
4 Was Kayfabe Brother-In-Law Of The Great Khali
In the early days of his WWE main roster career, Jinder Mahal had a brief association with The Great Khali. They also teamed up a couple of times as tag team partners.

During this partnership, Jinder Mahal revealed himself as the brother-in-law of The Great Khali and mentioned that he married Khali's sister. The kayfabe revelation hardly made any sense because WWE didn't do anything with this storyline.
3 Stole Randy Orton's WWE Belt
After becoming the number one contender for the WWE Championship, he ignited his feud with Randy Orton. But while having the feud with then WWE Champion Randy Orton, Mahal did something that made little sense.
Jinder Mahal stole the WWE Title from Randy Orton, not once but twice. First, he stole the title from The Viper on an episode of SmackDown. He repeated it at Payback, where Orton crossed paths with Bray Wyatt. Later, Shane McMahon forced Jinder to give back the belt, but the latter would win the gold at Backlash.
2 Kept Challenging Sheamus Despite Losing Every Match
While a winning break could start the beginning of a big push, a losing streak can do the exact opposite. This is what happened to Jinder Mahal in the later stage of 2011 when he began a losing streak against Sheamus, from which he never managed to recover in his first stint.
In order to make a statement, Mahal went after Sheamus, insulting him every week and provoking him to face him. In fact, they crossed paths multiple times after Jinder took shots at Sheamus. But The Celtic Warrior got the better out of Jinder every single time. It was not reasonable why Jinder kept facing him even after losing to him each time.
1 Continued WWE Title Feud With AJ Styles At Live Events
After losing the WWE Championship to AJ Styles, Jinder Mahal received a rematch at Clash of Champions, where The Phenomenal One defended the belt successfully. While it marked the end of their feud on TV, they still continued to face each other for the WWE Championship in various live events, with Styles prevailing always. It wasn't clear why WWE kept booking them in live events but not on weekly SmackDown.
Subsequently, Jinder set his eyes on the United States Championship. On the other hand, AJ Styles found new challengers in Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.
