The WWE Network or Peacock has all sorts of great original content. One of the sillier entries is the animated series, Story Time. As curated by Mean Gene, and later Jerry The King Lawler, the series features 10-15 minute episodes where the superstars all share their unique stories about life on the road.

From a wide range of superstars, they show held nothing back as far as timelines or ages were concerned. The animation was unique too, it was nothing Earth-shattering, but still unique. Plus, the cartoon atmosphere made sure that all of these wild road stories were all to be taken tongue-in-cheek.

8 Plane Ride From Hell Story Cut From Peacock

WWE Story Time - Ric Flair

There is an interesting dichotomy when it comes to the WWE and The Plane Ride From Hell. History has not been kind to the ordeal that was described on Dark Side Of The Ring. However, the company has allowed some of the wrestlers involved to tell these stories with a hint of being a rapscallion.

But they also know the rest of the world doesn’t necessarily perceive the PRFH as being a “boys will be boys” type of story. This is ultimately why the company ultimately pulled the first episode of Story Time off of Peacock - the stories had to deal with the Plane Ride and yes particularly involving Ric Flair and the flight attendant.

7 Giant Stories

Andre The Giant Jim Duggan

While a lot of the guys telling stories are more of the current roster, some of the guys were around during the time of Andre The Giant. Hacksaw Jim Duggan told a story about how Andre didn’t keep his singlet very clean. But being a giant, he didn’t have the best accommodations to be very clean.

Hacksaw was knocked out every night by Andre’s singlet. One particular night, it actually made Duggan sick, and he threw up at ringside. Pat Patterson tells his Andre story too of driving Andre around and convincing him to moon the “wrestlers” in front of them. But the rib is that it was actually a random couple.

6 Driving With Mr. Blassie

Young Paul Heyman With Freddie Blassie, Capt Lou, And The Grand Wizard

Being the Wise Man isn’t just a cool nickname for Paul Heyman. It’s actually a throwback to early days of WWE, when Happy Heyman was just a fan growing up in New York himself. Then there were three Wise Men - The Grand Wizard, Captain Lou Albano, and Classy Freddie Blassie. Heyman was always backstage as a photographer and on one evening, Freddie Blassie offered a young Paul Heyman a ride home.

The only issue was that Blassie couldn’t drive at all and on top of that was driving the wrong way on streets. Heyman terrified he wasn’t going to make it home screamed at Blassie to pull over and then Paul E. drove them home.

5 Exploding Cars

Vince McMahon Limo Explodes

For his entire career, throughout the Carolina and Florida Territories and of course his stints in WWE and WCW, Ricky The Dragon Steamboat was proverbial babyface. So it’s a little weird to see him gleefully like a heel delighting in what could be a disastrous “good-natured” ribs that were pulled throughout the Florida territories.

For starters, the boys would take the wheels off your car and put them at a nearby tire shop. Or they would superglue your lock, forcing you to break your window to get into the car. The guys would also put gross cheese in the air vents. While he didn’t do it, he did know that someone one replaced a car’s distributor cap with an M80 firecracker.

4 The Perfect Rib

Mr. Perfect - 123 Kid Eyebrow Shaved

One of the more playful ribber was Mr. Perfect. One of his best ribs was to shave another guy’s eyebrow while they were sleeping. They would wake up and then have to make a decision - shave the other eyebrow or leave well enough alone. Naturally Perfect and the rest of the boys would weigh in their opinions.

Take a look at one of the 1-2-3 Kid’s old action figure cards - he clearly decided to shave them both off.

3 Coach Gets Arrested

WWE Story Time - Coach cartoon

Only in professional wrestling can your boss gleefully get you arrested and all the boys laugh about it too. The Coach was taking bets on backstage nonsense when Vince McMahon decided to call the “cops” on him.

Since all the boys were in on it, when the cops arrived to arrest Coach for illegal gambling, he broke down crying (totally understandable if you think you’re getting arrested). Vince stopped the car before it left the parking lot to lay Jonathan Coachman know that “we got you.”

Bruno Sammartino house

Whenever the carnival came to town years ago, sometimes there would be some sort of animal to wrestle. Bruno Sammartino stepped up to the plate for a chance at fifty bucks and said “I’ll wrestle the monkey.”

However, he soon realized that it wasn’t a monkey - it was an orangutan and the simian smash Bruno from pillar to post, but the future WWE champion survived the advertised 15 minutes before swinging at the monkey. But Bruno wound up getting disqualified for using his fists.
