Most iconic wrestlers have a finisher that is also iconic. This does not mean that a wrestler's finisher doesn't evolve over the years. Steve Austin very famously had the Stun Gun and Million Dollar Dream before he adopted the "Stone Cold" Stunner. Sometimes a change is necessary and other times a finisher functions just fine as it is.

Sometimes a new finishing move is so awful that it's quickly abandoned and the superstar is forced to revert to their original move. This list will examine 5 WWE superstars whose finishers changed often over the years and 5 whose finishers stayed the same.

10 Finishers Changed Often Over The Years: The Undertaker

The Undertaker is one of the most successful wrestlers to ever compete in WWE. Along with transcending generations as a superstar, The Undertaker has also evolved his gimmick. As he evolved from a "dead man powered by an urn" to a motorcycle rider, his finishers also evolved. Along with the Tombstone Piledriver, The Undertaker has also used the Last Ride, the Chokeslam, and Hell's Gate as finishers.

9 Finisher Stayed The Same: Ric Flair

"The Nature Boy" Ric Flair is an icon as big as wrestling itself. Although he rose to fame in the NWA and later WCW, he still spent a large part of his wrestling career in WWE. At the company, he used the Figure Four leglock as his finish, a move that Flair used practically his entire wrestling career. The Figure Four is as synonymous with Flair as his over-the-top promos and his robes.

8 Finishers Changed Often Over The Years: Edge

Edge has a great WWE legacy. He started his career by having the most individual tag team title reigns in WWE history, with 14 reigns (although this record has recently been broken by Kofi Kingston, with 15) and ended his career in 2011 as the most decorated World Heavyweight Champion in the title's 11-year history, with 7 reigns. He's also already a WWE Hall of Famer. Just as Edge has evolved as a superstar, his finishers have also evolved.

Today, he more commonly uses the Crossface as his finisher due to neck issues, but throughout his career, he also used the Edgecator, the Spear, the Antivenom, and the Edgecution.

7 Finisher Stayed The Same: Triple H

Triple H Warrior

The current head of WWE creative joined the company with one of the strangest gimmicks ever bestowed upon a wrestler. He was a blue-blood competitor known as Hunter Hurst Helmsley. The only remnant of that relic that followed Triple H his entire career was his finisher, the Pedigree. It doesn't matter who uses the move or in what variation, the Pedigree will always be associated with Triple H since he used it his entire WWE career.

6 Finishers Changed Often Over The Years: Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho has changed his wrestling persona multiple times. While in WWE, Chris Jericho used multiple different finishers as well. He usually changed finishers anytime he changed his gimmick. During his first run in WWE, he used the Breakdown as his finishing move. Throughout his career, he used the Lionsault, the Walls of Jericho, the Liontamer, and the Codebreaker.

5 Finisher Stayed The Same: Rey Mysterio

No single person made the Lucha Mask more well-known than Rey Mysterio. He's been an underdog practically his entire WWE career, and he's also evolved wrestling more than any high flyer in history. His finisher, the 619, has been altered but has always been a staple of Rey Mysterio's WWE career since his debut in 2002. Although the ending of the move has changed from the West Coast Pop to the Frog Splash, it's always been Mysterious' 619 swing kick that defines the finisher.

4 Finishers Changed Often Over The Years: Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins Kingslayer

Seth Rollins' Curb Stomp is one of the most devastating moves in wrestling today. The move is so devastating that it's one of the few wrestling finishers that was actually banned in WWE. It's not the same finisher that he's had his entire career. In WWE, Rollins has used the Pedigree, a Superkick, a Diving Knee Fall Forward, and a Single Under Hook DDT as his finishers.

3 Finisher Stayed The Same: Hulk Hogan

Few finishers have contributed more to the rise of wrestling than Hulk Hogan's Leg Drop. It's a move so iconic that no other wrestler has even attempted to make it their finisher. Sure, as wrestling has continued to evolve the move has been exposed for how little damage it does to its opponent in real life. It's still one of the moves that help finishers become a staple in wrestling.

It's also a move that Hulk Hogan used to help raise the status of both WWE and WCW. It's as connected to Hogan's legacy as Hulkamania or balding. It's also the singular finishing move of Hogan's WWE career.

2 Finishers Changed Often Over The Years: Kevin Owens

The Miz at WrestleMania 32

Many fans are mixed about Kevin Owens' usage of the Stunner. On the one hand, it is great to see the move back in action, but, on the other, it is a move that belongs to Steve Austin and nobody else. Kevin Owens has used multiple different finishers in WWE on the main roster and in NXT. Kevin Owens has used the Pop-Up Powerbomb, the Powerbomb onto the ring apron, a sit-down Powerbomb, and a Frog Splash as his finishing moves in WWE.

1 Finishers Stayed The Same: Rob Van Dam

Rob Van Dam v Raven Cropped

Few wrestlers have ever been as electrifying as WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam. Van Dam found a way to take simple moves and elevate them to new heights both metaphorically and literally. Throughout most of Rob Van Dam's career, his finisher was the Five Star Frog Splash.

When he wasn't using the Frog Splash, he used a Split Leg Moonsault, which was also an innovation that he helped bring to WWE. These moves not only followed RVD his entire career but also helped him create a legacy that will never be matched.
