WWE fans rejected New Day’s face run at first with a heel turn heading their way. New Day got over as heels with their entertaining antics and impressive matches. WWE eventually made them faces again once they won over the audience. Both sides of the character work provide positives. Make your own choice when helping us decide if New Day are better off as heels or faces.

10 Heels: Running Down Home Crowds

The fun part of being a heel usually comes in the form of fun moments on the microphone. New Day thrived at getting heel heat during their promo segments. Fans wanted to cheer the heels, but they’d shut the audience down.

The Raw after SummerSlam 2015 saw their record-setting Tag Team Championship reign start with the trio signing a parody of Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” with a few savage insults. This was one of many moments where New Day had fun with the audience.

9 Faces: Fun Merchandise

Most wrestlers will agree that the biggest perk of playing a face over a heel comes with merchandise sales. Fans are more likely to purchase the T-shirts or other items of the wrestlers trying to win them over.

Younger fans specifically love the merchandise items and will pick the fun trio handing out pancakes over the heels making fun of them. New Day being a huge draw for WWE merchandise makes it hard to turn them heel again.

8 Heel: More Creative Freedom

Heels will always have more creative freedom since there are fewer rules for such a character trait. The scenario of a heel making a mistake can see them easily adjusting on the fly or making fun of themselves without looking bad.

Faces have a smaller margin for error when playing the heroic characters. New Day got most of their best catch phrases and concepts over during the heel run. The fans got used to enjoying them before the shift to the face roles.

7 Faces: Connects With All Demos

The best thing for New Day as a face act is how much they connect with different demographics of the audience. Diehard WWE fans like all three wrestlers for their talent and witnessing their evolution to important roles on the show.

The younger kids love the colorful looks and fun antics. Casual fans will at least find fascination in witnessing their act for the first time. WWE lucked out with New Day having great appeal to almost all demographics watching the program.

6 Heels: Started Their Record Breaking Title Reign As Heels

New Day needed to thrive as heels before they could ever get over as faces. The record-breaking Tag Team Championship run of New Day started during their time as heel characters. WWE realized they were gaining momentum to start a lengthy title run.

The Dudley Boyz returned to WWE as faces to enter a feud with New Day. All three wrestlers in the faction loved the heel work that set up the first major step in becoming an all-time great tag team.

5 Faces: Better Entrances

The New Day entrance is among the better ones in WWE today for the fan engagement. Fans chanting “New Day rocks” and even dancing along with them adds a lot of fun to the atmosphere associated with the trio.

Even the introduction from Big E gets fans chanting along with the “Don’t you dare be sour” catch phrase. New Day got a few intricate elements of their entrance over with the audience that only is effective with faces.

4 Heels: Better Comedy

The comedic element of New Day will be an important part of their act on both sides of the character traits. However, heel characters will typically have the better chance to deliver entertaining and memorable moments.

Names like The Rock and Chris Jericho didn’t embrace their comedic potential until turning heel. New Day had funnier segments as heels since they didn’t have any unwritten rules to follow. The face moments are still funny even if not as strong as heels.

3 Faces: Will Always Be Liked By Fans After Getting Over

The plight of a great heel is getting more heat after the audience earns their respect. Fans originally booed New Day because they had no real explanation or purpose for being together other than playing cheery faces.

The fan resentment forced the heel change where they finally thrived. New Day understood their best work would come from their own inspirations. Once they understood how to get over, the audience fell in love with them and it will be hard to get boos again in the future.

2 Heels: Saved Their Careers

Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E all had their careers on the line when forming New Day. Woods and Big E were struggling to just get television time. Kingston had a better role but knew he wouldn’t move up the card unless taking a risk.

The heel turn changed their careers forever as the trio finally got to showcase their personality. New Day got over to not only save their careers but become one of the most valuable assets in WWE. The company turned them face because they were starting to draw big money.

1 Faces: Kofi's WWE Championship Story

The WWE Championship win of Kofi Kingston defeating Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 35 was the peak moment for New Day. Both Xavier Woods and Big E stated their top goal and dream scenario for the faction would be Kofi winning the WWE Championship.

The unplanned push started when Kingston replaced Mustafa Ali in a gauntlet match and later the Elimination Chamber match. New Day’s run together and genuinely unselfish chemistry created a classic WM moment for Kofi.
