The Deadman cometh. After much speculation over his future in WWE, The Undertaker returned at Super ShowDown and beat AJ Styles in a match that lasted about as long as the average Money in the Bank cash-in.

Now, many fans believe that Taker is going to be locking horns with Styles one more time — on the grandest stage of them all. The two are being lined up to compete against one another again at WrestleMania 36 in Tampa, Florida. Today, we want to run through a few reasons why we think it'll be good, and a few reasons why we think it won't be so good.
10 GREAT - It’s AJ Styles
There are going to be plenty of valid reasons that fans, not just us, will come up with as to why AJ Styles and The Undertaker should not be facing off at WrestleMania 36. Alas, while all of that may be valid in its own right, the bottom line is this: AJ Styles is one of the best wrestlers on the planet and one of the best wrestlers of his generation.
If there’s anyone who knows how to make something like this work it’s going to be him, and you can bet he’s going to give his heart and soul to make sure they create some kind of masterpiece.
9 NOT GREAT - Taker’s Mobility
As we’ve seen in the last few years, The Undertaker just can’t really go in the ring as much as he used to. That’s what age does to us all, and that’s especially true for Taker given how many injuries he has sustained over the years.
His mobility has been called into question in the past, and while there’s a very good chance AJ could simply carry him to a classic bout, there are even more reasons to believe that a few spots could be blown as a result of The Deadman not being the athlete he once was.
8 GREAT - The O.C. Interventions
The faction formerly known as The Club hasn’t really been able to get off the ground since reuniting back in the summer – and yet even with that being the case, we’re still confident in saying that potential interference from Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson would be really effective.

Matches that feature smoke and mirrors aren’t always going to get over with the fans, which is completely understandable, but there’s something about this feud that could actually make it work – especially if Kane is around to try and balance things out a bit.
7 NOT GREAT - What’s In It For AJ?
While a potential win over The Phenom would be a nice feather in the cap of AJ Styles, we honestly believe it would be more impactful for him to beat someone like Aleister Black – just clean this time.
If this was back in the days of the streak, and AJ was the one who snapped it, then we could somewhat understand the anticipation behind it all. As it is, though, Taker has already lost twice at WrestleMania to Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. Plus, as we’ll touch on a bit later, he’s already got a loss to Taker on his record.
6 GREAT - Fun Build
Both of these men can talk on the mic and both can tell a great story which, in itself, is enough of a reason to believe that this could be a whole lot of fun.
Styles is a standard heel in many ways but his abilities in the ring make him so much more than that. It’s clear to see that Taker wants to challenge himself and see whether or not he can still compete with the best of the best, and if that’s the story they’re going to try and tell, then it makes a lot of sense.
5 NOT GREAT - It’s Quite Random
Given the fact that we’ve received no real indication as to why this has happened, or why Taker went after Styles in the first place, it understandably leaves a whole bunch of fans wondering why this is the route WWE decided to go down.

There’s an argument to be made that they had better options out there for both men, even if it would’ve been difficult to get those matches made. Bray Wyatt, potentially Sting and a John Cena rematch come to mind for Taker, whereas Styles needs to feud with Finn Balor over control of The O.C. before either of them retires.
4 GREAT - Contrasting Styles
Taker is a methodical bruiser who is going to do everything in his power to break you down and systematically wear you out to the point where you just want to give up. AJ is a high-flying, technical & athletic performer who uses his speed and unique talents to put you on the back foot.
If both men are able to give their all in Tampa next month, then this could be the match that reminds us why WWE decides to bring The Deadman out to play every single year.
3 NOT GREAT - It’ll Be Short
There’s no guarantee that it’s going to be a short match but if Saudi Arabia is any intention of the direction they’re going to go in, then it could be a worrying night for either one of these men.
Undertaker hasn’t been able to perform in a long match for quite some time now, and while they could try and change that up at the show of shows, his last ‘long’ performance at WrestleMania against Roman Reigns back in 2017 didn’t exactly go very well. A squash, in reality, just wouldn’t work.
2 GREAT - The Undertaker Novelty
Every wrestling fan should hear that gong in person at least once during their lives, and if you’re heading to WrestleMania 36, you’ll get the opportunity to do so. The novelty of seeing The Undertaker slowly make his way down to the ring is great, and it’s the kind of ‘goosebumps’ moment that always looks and feels better when it’s happening on a show as important as Mania.

Some will argue that it isn’t enough to warrant him receiving a place on the card, but we’re talking about an all-time legend of this business.
1 NOT GREAT - It’s A Rematch
Rematches can work every so often, but WrestleMania is the sort of place that should rarely feature one – especially if it’s a rematch from something that happened just a few weeks prior.
While Styles wasn’t exactly prepared for Undertaker to make his way down to the ring at Super ShowDown, it still isn’t great that he was finished off relatively quickly with one simple chokeslam. That visual is going to be in the mind of all fans heading into this match, and it’s a shame because it was such an avoidable mistake.
