The early days of TNA were like the wild west. For the first few years of the company, there were stars of the past coming through for one final run, as names such as Scott Hall and Kevin Nash quickly signed. However, it was the young stars that earned the most praise.

Future champions such as AJ Styles were the real highlight of the first few years of TNA. Over 20 years after the formation of Impact Wrestling, many of those names are still around wrestling today. That being said, with the passage of time, many early stars from the company have hung up their boots.
10 Retired: Elix Skipper
Elix Skipper is one of the best high-flyers from the early days of TNA. A former WCW talent who came out of their Power Plant training school, he joined Impact upon its formation in mid-2002. Once signed, he came a highlight of the X-Division.
Skipper had some insane highlights, including his famed cage walk at Turning Point 2004. Sadly, he wasn't long for the wrestling business. Skipper retired in 2009 and has been absent from the business since then.
9 Not Retired: The Sandman
The Sandman isn't exactly known entirely for being a TNA talent, as he's more beloved for his ECW days. Nonetheless, he's had multiple stints with the company, with his first coming all the way back in 2003.
In fact, Sandman continues to wrestle today and has made Impact appearances as recently as 2019. Imagine telling someone in 1995 that the beer-drinking, cane-swinging madman from ECW would still be going nearly 30 years later.
8 Retired: Brother Devon
Brother Devon, also known for being one-half of the Dudley Boys in WWE had a notable stint in TNA from 2005 to 2014. While he didn't reach the heights of Bully Ray in Impact, he still had a near-decade-long stint.
However, while Bully Ray continues to wrestle today for TNA, Devon is firmly in retirement. In fact, quickly already found a new career, working backstage for WWE as a producer. Although he did leave the company earlier this year, he still has a lot to offer behind the scenes.
7 Not Retired: Christopher Daniels
Christopher Daniels is one of the greatest talents to come out of the early days of TNA. In 2002, he signed with the company after a stint in ROH and the WWE. Quickly, Daniels became one of TNA's biggest stars, putting on incredible matches with AJ Styles and Samoa Joe.

Ultimately, Daniels ended his initial stint in 2010 but has had multiple returns since then. These days, he is not retired as a wrestler, working on the AEW and ROH brands. However, he also works backstage as a talent relations manager.
6 Retired: Abyss
Abyss is one of TNA's real and true homegrown stars. In 2002, the relatively unknown Chris Park debuted, but it wasn't until he donned the villain persona the following year that he really gained traction. Under the mask, Abyss became a hardcore legend.
For over 15 years, he was a workhorse for the company, doing just about everything possible he could. Sadly, while Abyss put on some incredible hardcore matches, the damage took its toll. Since 2019, he's been retired and shown zero interest in returning to the ring.
5 Not Retired: Ron Killings
Yes, before he was R-Truth, he was killing it as Ron Killings in the early days of TNA. First debuting as K-Kwik, in July 2002 he dropped the name in favor of his own, turning heel in the process and targeting heavyweight gold.
That month, he defeated Ken Shamrock to win the NWA Heavyweight Title, making history in the process. Ultimately, Killings had other memorable moments in TNA, including his tag team with PacMan Jones until leaving in 2007. Since then, he's been in the WWE and is active today.
4 Retired: Sabu
Like many ECW legends, Sabu also had multiple stints in Impact Wrestling. First debuting in 2002, he had a four-year stint with the company. However, he later had returns in both 2010, and 2019 with TNA.
Many fans would be surprised to learn that Sabu is retired. That's mainly because he just showed up on AEW television, going through a table during Chris Jericho vs. Adam Cole at Double or Nothing 2023. Nonetheless, in 2021, he announced his retirement, but we'll see if it sticks.
3 Not Retired: Raven
Raven is one of TNA's newest Hall of Fame members, having been inducted last Fall. It was an easy choice, as the hardcore legend was one of the company's earliest stars, and had an incredible heavyweight title run in 2005.

While his TNA resume doesn't have much beyond that, Raven still has too many memorable Impact moments to count. While he's not an active talent with the company, he continues to wrestle in the indies to this day.
2 Retired: Gail Kim
Gail Kim is a popular pick for the greatest women's wrestler of all time. After being released from WWE in 2005, the young technical wrestler signed with TNA. There, she would carve out her own legacy, becoming a multiple-time Knockouts champion.
While she later returned to WWE, it wasn't for long. Kim ultimately finished out her career in TNA, retiring in 2019 after losing to Tessa Blanchard in her final match. In retirement, she continues to work for the company as a producer.
1 Not Retired: AJ Styles
In 2002, a young man by the name of AJ Styles got his first real push in TNA. After failed stints in the WWE and WCW, this was exactly what he needed. Obviously, this was the opportunity he needed, never letting go of that shot. Over the next two decades, Styles became one of the greatest wrestlers ever.
Even today, he continues to wrestle in the WWE after decades of incredible work. Years from now, AJ Styles' longevity has to be studied. Seriously, the man was literally on episodes of Nitro and is still putting on incredible matches to this day.
