NXT has done a fantastic job of rejuvenating the tag team division. Over the years, the brand has attracted some of the best duos touring the world. Even some of the Match Of The Year contenders have featured teams such as The Undisputed Era, DIY, and The Revival.

But as many NXT alumni quickly learn, success in the black and gold brand does not guarantee the same praise when they move up to compete on RAW and SmackDown. Since NXT's inception, some teams have been able to continue their winning ways, while others end up wishing they never got the call-up.

10 Worst: The Authors Of Pain

In NXT, Akam and Rezar obliterated the competition with their advocate, Paul Ellering. They managed to find some success on the main roster by winning the RAW Tag Team Championships, but fans were indifferent to them. More recently, AOP has aligned itself with Seth Rollins. But instead of going after the championships again, they have taken on enforcer roles and choose to look menacing behind their fearless leader. While AOP is capable of putting on great matches, they are yet to showcase their talent on the main roster.

9 Best: The Wyatt Family

While all three men have moved on to greener pastures, fans still have fond memories of The Wyatt Family. The former NXT Tag Team Champions made a memorable impact on the main roster, with their most exciting rivalry being against The Shield. Seeing Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and Bray Wyatt brawl with Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns would steal the show every time. While it's unlikely fans will ever see these two stables do battle again, they'll always have the memories of their epic encounters.

8 Worst: SAnitY

Fans were excited to see Eric Young arrive in NXT and become a prominent member of the brand with his stable SAnitY. Accompanied by Killian Dane, Alexander Wolfe, and Nikki Cross, the group, both frightened and intimidated the roster with their unhinged antics. When they made the move to SmackDown, they left behind Cross, which in hindsight now seems like a mistake. The group didn't get the same reaction out of the competition on SmackDown and quickly went their separate ways.

7 Best: The Viking Raiders

Viking Raiders

After suffering from an identity crisis upon debuting on the main roster, The Viking Raiders quickly impressed fans with their brutality and surprising agility. It didn't take long before they were in the main event of RAW and winning the tag team titles.

Their recent rivalry with The Street Profits has brought a new comedic dimension to Eric and Ivar's personality that could increase their longevity on the main roster and earn them another shot at the belts.

6 Worst: American Alpha

Starting as a reluctant tag team, Jason Jordan and Chad Gable would go on to have a memorable run in the black and gold brand. When they were drafted to SmackDown, American Alpha was positioned as an up and comer All-American team. But after winning the titles, the duo would appear sparingly and seemed to disappear into obscurity. After losing the belts, Jordan and Gable would split up and go their separate ways. Gable would become Shorty G, while Jordan would discover Kurt Angle was his father.

5 Best: The Street Profits

Since their debut on RAW, The Street Profits have continued to be as entertaining as they were on NXT. Not only can the team of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins put on spectacular high-flying matches, but they can both trade wits on the microphone with the best of them. In the few months that they've been on the roster, The Street Profits have found themselves in high-profile segments and have also captured the RAW Tag Team Championships. With their star continuing to rise, fans don't expect them to slow down any time soon.

4 Worst: The Vaudevillians

Fans were surprised to see The Vaudevillians made their debut on SmackDown in 2016. Aiden English and Simon Gotch had brief moments of success while in NXT, but only held the tag team titles once and rarely appeared on TakeOver events.

They were an acquired taste, and it was debatable if their gimmick would translate to the main roster. It turned out that it wouldn't. After almost injuring Enzo Amore and rumors of Gotch causing issues backstage, The Vaudevillians would go on a losing streak that didn't seem to go anywhere.

3 Best: The IIconics

When they debuted on SmackDown, some fans thought that it might have been too early for Billie Kay and Peyton Royce to come up to the main roster. While The IIconics competed separately in NXT, they would interfere on each other's behalf at every opportunity. But the duo would regularly tag together on the blue brand and managed to win the Women's Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania. As their personalities become more prominent with every appearance, the fans who wondered if The IIconics arrival was too soon have been proven wrong.

2 Worst: The Ascension

To date, there hasn't been a tag team more dominant in NXT than The Ascension. Konor and Victor would hold the NXT Tag Team Championships for a record 364 days and punished any duo willing to step up to them. But when they arrived on the main roster, their success didn't come close to carrying across. After being buried at the hands of the nWo, APA, and the New Age Outlaws, The Ascension would lose to almost every tag team on the roster in spectacular fashion.

1 Best: The Revival

While sadly Dash and Dawkins have moved on from WWE, they are still considered by many as one of the best tag teams the company ever had. The Revival had perfected tag-team wrestling and demonstrated their ability against the likes of The New Day, The Hardy Boyz, and The Usos. But while The Top Guys would consistently produce amazing matches week after week, the tag-team division wasn't as diverse as it was in NXT. WWE's loss is now AEW's gain.
