Besides the main event picture, the tag team division helps to make a product interesting. When WWE wants to focus on building a new star, they often go through the tag team division, which helps wrestlers to establish themselves as a performer. There have been many colossal singles stars who have emerged from tag teams. Bret Hart, Jeff Hardy, Edge, Shawn Michaels and Roman Reigns are just a few names that come to mind.

On the other hand, some tag teams stick together throughout their whole career. Starting back in the 1970s, the tag team division has a lot of history, and several popular tag teams have been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and they can be compared to the current generation of tag teams.

10 Sasha Banks & Bayley: Trish Stratus & Lita

Sasha Banks and Bayley

Trish Stratus and Lita were the two most iconic women of the women's division in the Attitude Era as well as the Ruthless Aggression Era. Both as singles stars and a tag team, they were spectacular. Even though WWE didn't have women's tag team titles back then, the two former Women's Champions teamed up numerous times, with the most recent team-up being at Evolution.

They can be compared to former Women's Tag Team Champions, Sasha Banks and Bayley. Similar to Trish and Lita, they were fierce rivals, as well as great tag team partners.

9 Dana Brooke & Mandy Rose: Stacy Keibler & Torrie Wilson

While Stacy Keibler and Torrie Wilson weren't known for their in-ring skills, they were certainly famous for their looks. They not only competed as a tag team but participated in many racy segments back in the day. Torrie even became a Hall of Famer in 2019 and Keibler will likely follow suit soon as well.

Today's versions of Stacy and Torrie today could be Dana Brooke and Mandy Rose. The duo remained a tag team for nearly a year until Mandy returned to NXT recently. Like Stacy and Torrie, they were also known more for their look than their ring work.

8 The Usos: The Wild Samoans

The Wild Samoans were one of the most decorated tag teams in old-school wrestling. While they wrestled in WWE, they also wrestled in various other promotions around the world, holding twenty-one tag team belts. The Wild Samoans were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.

Their contemporaries would be The Usos, who are from the same Anoa'i family. The Wild Samoans' Sika is the father of Roman Reigns. The Usos are highly successful as a tag team, as they are seven-time Tag Team Champions.

7 The Shield: The Brothers Of Destruction

The Brothers of Destruction were a nightmare for their opponents, given the team consisted of two of the most iconic names in WWE history; The Undertaker and Kane. They reigned supreme in the tag team division for a while, winning the Tag Team Titles thrice. While The Undertaker is yet to become a WWE Hall of Famer, Kane is one.

The Shield has striking similarities to The Brothers of Destruction. Even though the group isn't together anymore, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns are two elite names of the roster who are building their own legacies.

6 AJ Styles & Omos: Two Dudes With Attitude

Styles and Omos as Champions

Two Dudes With Attitude was a team that existed in the New Generation Era. Shawn Michaels and Diesel formed the team, and the duo had a fair share of success as a tag team. They won the Tag Team Titles twice. Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash are both WWE Hall of Famers, after getting inducted individually as well as part of DX and nWo respectively.

Omos and AJ Styles can be their counterparts. Like Diesel, Omos acts as Styles' bodyguard. When it comes to mobility in-between the ropes, AJ Styles is probably closest to the legendary Shawn Michaels. The team of Omos and AJ Styles has won the Raw Tag Team Championships.

5 The Bar: Edge & Christian

The-Bar

Edge and Christian were one of the reasons why the tag team division of the Attitude Era was incredible. First, with The Brood and then as a tag team, Edge and Christian went on to win the tag team golds seven times. Edge became a WWE Hall of Famer in 2012.

The Bar would be a perfect counterparts to the legendary tag team. Sheamus and Cesaro, The Bar members, are successful as singles workers, and they have won the Tag Team Titles five times. The team isn't together anymore, but both Sheamus and Cesaro are active wrestlers on the WWE roster.

4 The Undisputed Era: D-Generation X

The Undisputed Era in NXT

D-Generation X brought a new revolution to WWE, playing a pivotal role in WWE's triumph in Monday Night Wars. Needless to say, DX created big singles stars afterwards. The whole stable was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019.

A team with similar energy would be NXT's Undisputed Era. Led by Adam Cole, they have won all titles of the black and yellow brand, including the NXT Tag Team Titles thrice. The stable has split up, but the fans would love to see them reuniting on the main roster.

3 The Street Profits: The Dudley Boyz

Street Profits

The Dudley Boyz are certainly one of the most iconic tag teams in the professional wrestling business. After ECW, they took the WWE's tag-team division by storm, especially in the Attitude Era. They ended up winning the Tag Team Titles a record ten times, and they were inducted to the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018.

Presently, The Street Profits are also one of the popular tag teams of the company. They have captured the NXT Tag Team Championship once, and the Tag Team Titles on the main roster twice. Like Dudley Boyz, The Street Profits can deliver entertaining promos.

2 The Viking Raiders: The Road Warriors/Legion Of Doom

Arguably one of the most accomplished tag teams in professional wrestling history were The Road Warriors. Besides capturing gold in WWE, they won tag team titles in various other promotions. They were given Hall of Fame status in 2011.

Like The Road Warriors, The Viking Raiders also competed in ROH and NJPW before signing for WWE. They have won the Raw Tag Team Championship once. Most importantly, The Viking Raiders wear face paint like The Road Warriors.

1 The New Day: The Hart Foundation

New Day is looking sad

Before Bret Hart proudly called himself, 'The best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be', he was part of the The Hart Foundation, with Jim Neidhart. After forming the tag team in 1984, they were together for seven years. In addition, Jimmy Hart was their manager. The Hart Foundation got the Hall of Fame ticket in 2019.

The New Day can be an ideal counterpart to The Hart Foundation. With eleven Tag Team Titles to their name, The New Day has built a great legacy. The trio was also together for six years until Big E was separated from Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston last year.
