Even though Vince McMahon gets criticized by wrestling fans for doing all kinds of things in WWE, one thing the WWE Universe cannot deny is that McMahon is the only reason wrestling became so popular back in the day.

For instance, when WWE was turned PG the fans weren't quite supportive of it. Most of them were born when the Attitude Era was huge and they didn't want to see wrestling for kids on television. But that one decision turned WWE into a multi-billion dollar corporation, yet fans still question him. Like this, there were many other things Vince did that irked people the wrong way.
10 Firing Superstars Amid The Pandemic
The Covid-19 era caused many businesses to shut down. But this virus couldn't stop Vince McMahon from producing WWE shows. The wrestling business ran through the entire global pandemic and still made millions in profits while many other companies were completely shut down.
Last year, WWE fired a series of wrestlers when the pandemic was still in its early stages. It was a really controversial decision because most of the world was struggling financially and the least Vince could've done is to delay these firings until the situation got better.
9 Banning Twitch & Other Third Party Services
Fans didn't really understand why WWE banned third-party services such as Twitch and Cameo. It was obviously done because WWE didn't want wrestlers to use their in-ring names to add more cash to their pockets. WWE wanted to control what their wrestlers did during their off-time but most fans weren't in support of this policy.
Zelina Vega was even fired by the company for this very reason and this sent a message to the rest of the roster that they have no options but to agree with WWE's terms.
8 Releasing CM Punk On His Wedding Day
CM Punk's firing changed the wrestling world in many ways. Punk ruled WWE from 2011-12 but backstage issues with the McMahon family eventually cost him his job. The Cult of Personality was fired by the company on his wedding day in 2014 and he was super upset about it.
Fans also criticized WWE for terminating Punk's contract on the biggest day of his life. Some even said that Vince should've worked things out with the former WWE Champion because he was such a huge wrestler to let go easily.
7 Partnership With Saudi Arabia
WWE's partnership with Saudi Arabia proved to be a double-edged sword for Vince McMahon. It gave WWE the money, but it was also filled with controversies. The situation was doubly heated in 2018 but WWE still followed through with their plans that year for the Greatest Royal Rumble when some of the top stars refused to perform.
Even after the travel delay controversy in 2019, WWE returned to Saudi Arabia the next year and has plans to do more shows this year as well.
6 Keeping The Universal Championship On Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar was a big deal for WWE but putting the Universal Championship on him was really questionable. First off, Lesnar never really showed up to defend his Universal Title but still kept the belt with him for 503 days in his first reign only. He only defended his title 7 times on television before Roman Reigns dethroned him for the belt.

Fans clearly wanted a full-time champion on Raw, so he didn't really make a good champion. Still, he enjoyed long title reigns.
5 Splitting Up The Hurt Business
The Hurt Business contributed a lot in making Bobby Lashley a huge wrestler in the last few months. But Vince McMahon's dislike for tag teams ended The Hurt Business.
First, Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander were kicked out of the group by Bobby Lashley, and later, they also broke up as a tag team. This was a very dumb move because there was literally no reason to do so and almost everyone was against it too.
4 Relaunching XFL & Losing Money
The XFL launch in 2001 took $35 million out of Vince's pocket. He waited for almost two decades before relaunching XFL but failed badly once again.
A major reason why XFL failed was the global pandemic that caused the company to go bankrupt. But even relaunching the brand itself seemed like a mistake considering how massive of a failure it proved to be the last time. The Rock has since purchased XFL from Vince so there's a chance that it could work this time around.
3 Business Over Safety
WWE didn't cancel any of their major shows during the Covid-19 situation. The fans were barred from arenas, but Raw and SmackDown still aired weekly.
Many fans called out Vince about this on the internet and called him selfish but it didn't affect WWE even one bit. The company continued to make profits, but at that time, it was really arguable if WWE was really an important business that it couldn't shut down its operations when almost every other major company did.
2 The Fiend's Multiple Burials
The Fiend was one of the best gimmicks of the last few years but WWE failed him several times. Starting from Hell in a Cell 2019 where Wyatt didn't win the title and then losing to Goldberg in Saudi Arabia, these were just poor bookings.

Most recently, The Fiend lost to Randy Orton at WrestleMania in yet another match. Most fans have given up hope on The Fiend since it's been buried way too many times now.
1 Ending The Undertaker's WrestleMania Streak
Some fans believe The Undertaker's streak helped Brock Lesnar become who he is today in WWE and others believe The Streak shouldn't have been broken ever.
Most fans are still baffled about the fact that Lesnar defeated Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX to give him his first loss. While questionable, it also helped WWE in the long as more and more fans started to take him seriously. Although it's still something Vince did that most people dislike.
