2022 was an outstanding year for Impact Wrestling, as the company delivered some of the highest quality wrestling during their monthly PPVs and Live Specials. Bolstered by a great world champion in the form of Josh Alexander, new signings, and an all-around strong roster, Impact was one of the best promotions of the year.

With such a strong performance rate in 2022, there were a number of wrestlers who stood out as some of the best of the year within Impact Wrestling, both men and women alike. From the Impact World Champion, to the Knockouts Champion, these were the 10 best wrestlers in Impact Wrestling in 2022.
10 Eric Young
While he may not be in his prime anymore, Eric Young still delivered a fantastic year in Impact Wrestling in 2022. As the leader of Violent By Design, Young would help lead his team to Tag Team Gold, as the trio would Freebird the Impact World Tag Team Titles from March until May 2022.
Outside of tag-team action, Eric Young would hold the honor of being Josh Alexander's Impact World Championship Challenger at Slammiversary 2022, where the two would put together an incredible tribute match to the 20-year history of TNA/Impact Wrestling. Eric has recently finished up with the company and appears to be headed back to WWE, though his run from 2020-2022 in Impact will remain a highlight of his career.
9 Mickie James
Beginning 2022 as Knockouts Champion, Mickie James would make history as she would enter the WWE Royal Rumble wearing the Knockouts Championship for one of the most surprising moments of the year. She would lose the belt to Tasha Steelz a bit later on before taking a hiatus after being attacked by former best-friend, Chelsea Green.

Upon her return later in the year, Mickie would announce her Last Rodeo Tour, a series of matches where she would put her career on the line. This latest run would see Mickie James wrestling better than she had in years, with genuinely great matches against the likes of Gisele Shaw and Mia Yim. She will now face off against Jordynne Grace for the Knockouts Championship at the start of the new year, once again with her career on the line.
8 Steve Maclin
One of the most shocking stars to be made in Impact Wrestling over the past few years is Steve Maclin. Coming off a forgettable run in WWE as part of the Forgotten Sons, Maclin would arrive in Impact to little fanfare in 2021 before truly breaking out in 2022.
Taking the show by storm, Maclin proved himself in bouts against Jonathan Gresham before rising up the ranks of Impact. He would wrestle in marquee matches such as a triple threat against Jay White & Chris Sabin, which he would win, before entering a memorable three-way feud between he, Sami Callihan, and Moose. Maclin's ceiling only continues to grow in Impact, with him feeling like a future World Champion more and more as of late.
7 Moose
Kicking off his 2022 as Impact World Champion, Moose dominated the company in the first half of the year as the main event player for Impact. As champion, Moose played his role great before eventually dropping the belt back to Josh Alexander at Rebellion in a fantastic main event. While he would fail to win anymore gold during 2022, Moose would still have a strong year.

Feuding with Steve Maclin and Sami Callihan, Moose would put on a number of truly spectacular matches, including a legendary Monster's Ball Match with Sami Callihan. Moose would also have a surprisingly great Tables Match against Bully Ray at Over Drive, capping off one of his best year's as an in-ring perfomer.
6 Eddie Edwards
Leading Honor No More for most of 2022, Eddie Edwards would find himself with renewed energy during his latest heel run in Impact. The faction itself would not make all that much sense in the grand scheme of things, especially with OGK eventually leaving Impact to return to ROH, though the unit would dazzle in their regular multi-man matches.
Edwards would deliver some of his best in-ring performances in 2022 as well, with two standout singles matches. First, a dream match against Tomohiro Ishii during the Spring, and later, an Impact World Championship Match against Josh Alexander at Bound For Glory that is regarded as one of the best matches in Impact from 2022.
5 Alex Shelley
2022 would see Alex Shelley return to regular action within Impact Wrestling, once again teaming alongside Chris Sabin as the Motor City Machine Guns. The duo would win two sets of titles, both the Impact World Tag Team and the NJPW Strong Openweight Tag Team Championships, while also wrestling at AEW All Out.
Outside of his great work with Chris Sabin, Shelley would once again shine as a singles star in Impact during 2022. Through a fantastic singles match against his protege, Jay White and a truly spectacular Impact World Championship Match against Josh Alexander at Emergence, Alex Shelley would prove that while he is a gifted tag-team wrestler, he is still an all-star singles wrestler.
4 Trey Miguel
One of the staples of the X Division within Impact Wrestling, Trey Miguel opted to stay with Impact Wrestling when the other members of The Rascalz left for WWE. In 2022, Miguel would rock the X Division with some of the best matches of the year, namely against Mike Bailey, Ace Austin, and Black Taurus.
Winning the belt twice in 2022, Trey would add two new notches to his belt while continuing to impress as an in-ring talent. Having recently turned heel, Trey Miguel now finally is getting the chance to add a new wrinkle to his presentation, as he heads into the new year with a defaced X Division Championship, portaying a darker character.
3 Jordynne Grace
Without a doubt the shining star of the Knockouts Division in 2022 would be none other than Jordynne Grace. Despite having a slower start to her year, Grace would become the first-ever Impact Digital Media Champion before engaging an extended feud with Matt Cardona over the belt. After dropping the championship, Grace would begin her climb back to the top of the Knockouts Division.
Becoming Knockouts Champion during the first-ever Queen of the Mountain Match, Grace would go on to thrill throughout her reign. Delivering two of the best women's matches of the year in any wrestling company with her pair of defenses against Masha Slamovich, Grace is a no-brainer pick for one of the best Impact Wrestlers of 2022.
2 Mike Bailey
Arriving in Impact as one of the hot new signings of 2022, "Speedball" Mike Bailey would arrive and make quite the impact upon his debut. Taking the X Division by storm, the Canadian wrestler would be one of the breakout stars of the year for the company.
Not only would Bailey capture X Division gold within his first year with Impact, but he would also quickly begin defending the belt against anyone and everyone, never failing to amaze in his matches. Despite losing the belt to AEW's Frankie Kazarian, Speedball would end his year on a high note as he would wrestle an hour-long match with Impact World Champion, Josh Alexander.
1 Josh Alexander
2022 was ushered in the Era of Alexander within Impact Wrestling, as the long-term storlyine of Josh Alexander becoming the face of the company was paid off at Rebellion 2022. Dethroning longtime rival Moose to become Impact World Champion for the second time in his career, Josh would ascend to the top of the company before going onto have one of the best title reigns in Impact Wrestling history.
Taking on a wide variety of challengers, Josh would fail to have even an "okay" match in 2022, instead stealing the show on a regular basis. With highlights coming in the form of his matches against Tomohiro Ishii, Eric Young, Eddie Edwards, Alex Shelley, and Mike Bailey, Josh Alexander would close off his 2022 in an incredible strong fashion as the true franchise player of Impact Wrestling.
