10 Best Wrestler/Interviewer Relationships

A wrestler's relationships with interviewers are often quite straightforward. The talent stands and answers questions to put themselves or a storyline over, and that is typically the end of it. However, now and then there is a spark and energy between a wrestler and the interviewer and that can lead to some fantastic moments of magic.

If executed correctly, these relationships can be built up to the point where fans expect something special each time they meet. An interviewer can be just as effective as anybody else and if they have the right personality, they typically bring a lot to the product.
10 The Rock & Kevin Kelly
The Rock was always electric in backstage interviews, with this being a time where he would truly come alive. He brought all of the personality and happily brought the interviewers he worked with into the forefront of things, which he certainly did with Kevin Kelly.
The relationship they had was a fantastic one, with Kelly often being quite goofy as he looked to simply please The Rock. However, this is where the WWE Superstar was able to push his buttons and make him do silly things to get over
9 Britt Baker & Tony Schiavone
This is a current relationship that is one of the best in the business right now. It is quite a unique bond between Britt Baker and Tony Schiavone, as the duo are pushed as genuine friends, with Tony being a fan of her work, despite Britt being a heel.

This relationship started with Britt just being rude to Tony to build as much heat as possible, but the two have formed a great bond, to the point where Adam Cole has shown jealous. They're a fun pairing and one that audiences have gravitated towards.
8 The Rock & Lilian Garcia
Another great relationship that The Rock had with an interviewer was with Lilian Garcia before she transitioned into becoming a ring announcer. They just had instant chemistry and a true spark, bouncing off each other in a flirtatious manner that always helped make The Rock's character look great.
However, it also created some hilarious moments from his career. Some of The Rock's funniest promos were done alongside Lilian, with the two of them working well on screen.
7 Triple H & Cathy Kelley
The relationship between Triple H and Cathy Kelley was a unique one because it felt genuine, with this being the business version of the Game in NXT. Kelley would interview him after every NXT Takeover, and together they built up a great rapport.
They did other things as well such as touring WrestleMania Axxess to showcase it for fans before their arrival. They had a good bond and it was clear Triple H thought highly of her, which only brought out even better work.
6 The IIconics & Kayla Braxton
The IIconics were always hilarious in backstage interviews as they had excellent chemistry together. They seemed to know what the other was thinking at all times and that allowed them to bounce off each other and push the buttons of whoever was interviewing.

It always made them seem like an annoying pair, which was the point, and the fact it was often funny made it even better. Kayla Braxton would often struggle to get a word in, and that was the intention, which created an enjoyable dynamic between them all.
5 The Miz & Renee Young
The Miz and Renee Young did bring out the best in each other with what was often quite a personal relationship. They didn't pull any punches with each other and the fact Young was a confident character who could stand up for herself at times helped that.
Some of their exchanges were brilliant, which included Renee slapping him across the face and it allowed fans to always be excited whenever they were put together. Fans knew there would be some tension and it instantly made people interested.
4 Steve Austin & Michael Cole
Michael Cole was brilliant as a backstage interviewer as he would always do whatever it took to get the talent over. He was happy to play the coward who was scared of everybody and that never worked better than with Steve Austin.
Seeing the Texas Rattlesnake push Cole's buttons with the 'what' questions were always entertaining, and their segments did work well together. It was an important moment for both of their careers and helped them both get over.
3 Hulk Hogan & Gene Okerlund
The friendship between Hulk Hogan and Gene Okerlund was there for everybody to see, with this being one that audiences loved. Whether it was in an interview segment or when Okerlund got involved in a storyline and they were working out together, they always had great chemistry.
It was clear that the two men had genuine respect for each other and that helped to make their relationship even stronger. Okerlund always asked the right questions and the Hulkster was his normal charismatic self in making the segments memorable.
2 Chris Jericho & Tom Phillips/Mike Rome
When Chris Jericho was pushing his list gimmick, the WWE legend was truly at his best with backstage interviews. He had some incredible moments that brought out a lot of fun, and Tom Phillips and Mike Rom often were the butt of the jokes.

He would constantly get their names wrong, calling them by what the other is known depending on what show he was on or who was asking the questions. It led to some fantastic segments that did drive the character forward.
1 The Rock & Jonathan Coachman
The ultimate relationship between a wrestler and an interviewer came with The Rock and Jonathan Coachman, with the duo having a great bond. Coach played the goofball perfectly in this dynamic which worked well for how The Rock would behave.
He constantly pushed Coachman's buttons and made him look ridiculous, but this is exactly what the fans expected and wanted. The way the interviewer would react only made things even more special, which created an iconic pairing.
