Wolverine 3 finally has a name, and it’s a simple one.
Six months ahead of its release, director James Mangold has unveiled the film’s first poster, which reveals it is titled Logan. The film is billed as Hugh Jackman’s final time wearing the claws as the mutant that made him famous with 2000’s X-Men.

Mangold also revealed the second page of the script, which gives a taste of the different tone he and Jackman have promised for the third installment, which is said to have a Western feel.

“Basically, if you’re on the make for a hyper choreographed, gravity defying, city-block destroying CG f–kathon, this ain’t your movie,” the script reads. “In this flick, people get hurt or killed when shit falls on them. They will get just as hurt or just as killed if they get hit with something big and heavy, like, say, a car. Should anyone in our story have the misfortune to fall off a roof or out a window, they won’t bounce. They will die.”
The most interesting bit comes with the description of Logan himself.
“As for our hero, well, he’s older now and it’s clear his abilities aren’t what they once were. He’s fading on the inside and his diminished healing factor keeps him in a constant state of chronic pain — hence, booze as a painkiller.”

Those involved in the project have confirmed that this film will be set in the future, causing speculation that it will borrow from the “Old Man Logan” comic book storyline that tells the tale of an older Wolverine living in a society in which villains rule. In the comics, he has a wife and children. He and Hawkeye must go on a road trip across the country for a mission that will earn Logan — now retired from being a superhero after a traumatic event — enough to pay rent to the bad guys who run his town.
In the poster, either Logan has grown quite a bit or it’s a child’s hand holding on to his. … Could he have settled down and had a family?
Patrick Stewart also stars in Logan as Professor X.
Logan is set for March 3, 2017.
