AEW Full Gear got off to a very bloody beginning when former friends Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus went one-on-one inside a steel cage in the opening match of the pay-per-view.It all went down at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, November 19. The former Jurassic Express teammates put each other through the wringer in a brutal opener, but it was the scrappy upstart Jack Perry who came out on top, overcoming a huge size disadvantage and solidifying his status as one of AEW's pillars in the process.

Early on n the match, AEW officials foiled Christian Cage's attempts to interfere on behalf of his dino-crony. Cage was banished from ringside, which boosted Jungle Boy's chances of victory exponentially. Luchasaurus utilized his brute strength and overpowered Jungle Boy for a large portion of the match, but it soon became clear that the 25-year-old was made of stronger stuff. Nothing the dinosaur did could put Jungle Boy away, and several near falls had the Newark crowd in raptures.

The finish came when Jungle Boy laid the gargantuan lizard on a table and climbed to the top of the cage before nailing his opponent with an ugly but effective elbow drop. The table broke beneath the two men, but Jungle Boy recovered fast and locked Luchasaurus in a Snare Trap. Luchasaurus tapped out and Baltimora's "Tarzan Boy" rang out around the arena, much to the joy of the North New Jersey fans in attendance.

After the bell, Jungle Boy celebrated with his mother and sister at ringside before making his way to the back, drenched in his own blood.

As you might recall Christian Cage turned on Jungle Boy when Jurassic Express lost the AEW World Tag Team Championship to the Young Bucks on the June 15 edition of AEW Dynamite. The Young Bucks regained the gold in a triple threat match that also featured the team of Ricky Starks & Powerhouse Hobbs, but it was Christian's actions after the bell that stole the headlines. Christian viscously attacked Jungle Boy and delivered a brutal con-chair-to to his former protégé.

Two weeks later, on the June 29 Dynamite, Cage revealed that himself and Luchasaurus were now a duo, although it was clear that Cage was pulling the strings.
